The London Institute occupies a stand-alone, five-floor building from the mid-18th century, one of 66 Grade II* listed buildings in Mayfair.

Located at 35a South St, our building was acquired by the Thomas Goode estate in the 19th century and is the oldest building on the block.

A central stairwell links the five floors of the building, which was originally built as a house at around the time of Newton’s death.

The heart of the Institute, known as the blue room, is used for public seminars, private meetings, blackboard chats and evening drinks.

Our working 18th-century fireplace is used throughout the year. The classical lamp in relief on the lintel forms the Institute's seal.

In this large office we kept the original room-height sash windows and working fireplace. It mimics a room in Château St-Victor-la-Coste.

The colours here reflect the dark green shutters on plaster-pink typical of Venice. It is the first office to have a honed slate blackboard.

Like all rooms on this floor, this one—in setting plaster—is a variation on red. We moved the door to reflect the original building plan.

Two high windows in this classical office fill it with light. Its size makes it useful for meetings as an alternative to the seminar room.

This intimate office, in green like the other rooms on this floor, has a view over Mount St gardens, a hidden getaway from the Institute.

This quirky office with under-stair nook is used by visiting scientists and research students. It also houses our parallel computing setup.

This large room, which houses the Institute's developers and technology incubator, offers commanding views across Mayfair's rooftops.
