Events guideline

Event descriptions are between 134 and 140 characters, which is the length of a tweet. They are written in the present tense. They typically start with “John Smith talks about…” or “Physicists discuss…”.

Event summaries are between 1110 and 1120 characters, which is the length of eight tweets. They are written in the present tense, so that they make sense before an event and after it. Hyperlinked text is possible in summaries and is underlined.

Event summaries have two paragraphs. The first gives an introduction to the subject of the talk or the reason for the event. The second paragraph gives details of the event. It typically starts with “In this talk…” or “At this event…”. Full names with titles are used in the first instance, such as Dr John Smith, followed by first names in the second instance.
