Federico Carta

Dr Carta is a Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellow at LIMS. His research focuses on string theory, phenomenology and quantum field theories.

Dr Federico Carta is a Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellow at the London Institute. He studied physics at the University of Padua, before doing his PhD at the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Madrid. His thesis focused on quantum field theories engineered from superstring theory and F-theory. Carta went on to do postdocs at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron in Hamburg, and later at Durham University. He works on string phenomenology, which connects string theory with real world physics. He also researches the interplay between string theory and quantum field theory, for various spacetime dimensions and supersymmetry. Outside research, Carta enjoys the great outdoors and the ocean. He is a keen snorkeller.
