Alexander Esterov

Prof. Esterov is an Arnold Fellow at LIMS. His research combines enumerative algebraic geometry, Galois theory and the geometry of polytopes.

Prof. Alexander Esterov is an Arnold Fellow at the London Institute. He studied mathematics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he did his PhD, researching Newton polyhedra, and won the Möbius Contest. He then did postdocs at the University of Toronto, and at institutes in Europe, before becoming Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at HSE University, Moscow. Recently, he has been a visiting researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. Outside research, Alexander likes to hike and listen to classical music.

His research combines algebraic geometry, Galois theory, and the geometry of polytopes, addressing problems in enumerative algebraic geometry.
