Superconductivity from doping symmetric mass generation insulators: application to La₃Ni₂O₇ under pressure

We show that doping a symmetric-mass-generation Mott insulator can produce superconductivity in pressurised bilayer nickelates. Anomaly cancellation permits a featureless Mott state; doping induces interlayer spin-singlet pairing. The model links weak Cooper pairing to condensation of tightly bound pairs, explains falling transition temperatures with pressure and predicts opposite doping trends for nickel orbitals.
