Gravity and generalised geometry from a Lie 2-algebroid perspective
Arxiv (2026)
Generalised geometry provides a powerful language for gravity coupled to a 2-form gauge field, but natural definitions of torsion and curvature have remained ambiguous. Here these are defined unambiguously using a Lie 2-algebroid structure and used to obtain a unique compatible connection. The resulting geometric action in terms of a generalised curvature reproduces the low-energy effective theory of closed strings.
