Thore Graepel
As well as a LIMS governor, Thore Graepel is Senior Vice President at Altos Labs, where he uses AI to explore the mechanisms of ageing.

Dr Thore Graepel is a governor at the London Institute and a physicist and computer scientist. He studied physics at the University of Hamburg and Imperial College London and earned his PhD in machine learning at the Technical University of Berlin. After a postdoc at Royal Holloway, University of London, he went on to lead research teams at Microsoft Research, and at Google DeepMind, where he co-created AlphaGo, the first computer programme to beat a human professional at Go. Dr Graepel is Senior Vice President at Altos Labs, where he applies machine learning to improving our understanding of the mechanisms of ageing. He also has a part-time position at UCL as Chair of Machine Learning.
