Recent advances and techniques in complex surfaces.
1 PM, 11 Oct 2026
The London Institute hosts a workshop on complex surfaces focusing on non-Kähler geometry, Class VII surfaces and holomorphic foliations.
Complex surfaces are a rapidly developing subject at the frontier of complex algebraic and differential geometry. This workshop brings together researchers to explore recent advances and techniques in the field, with a particular emphasis on non-Kähler surfaces and on methods applicable to the study of higher-dimensional non-algebraic manifolds.
Key themes include, but are not limited to, Class VII surfaces, foliation theory and non-Kähler geometry. Alongside talks by leading international specialists, the programme features introductory lectures aimed at PhD students and at mathematicians working in other fields, making current research accessible to a wider audience.
By bringing these specialists to Britain, the workshop aims to highlight recent progress in the area, raise its profile within London and across the broader mathematical community in the UK, and cultivate a collaborative atmosphere that builds bridges between established experts and the next generation of mathematicians.
Event information
This workshop takes place on Wednesday 11 November to Saturday 14 November at the London Institute for Mathematical Sciences, which is on the second floor of the Royal Institution in Mayfair. All researchers with an interest in these topics are invited to attend. No registration is required. For full details and schedule, please visit the website.
