Prof. Chris Hull FRS is a Fellow at the London Institute and Professor of Theoretical Physics at Imperial College. He studied mathematics at Cambridge and went on to get his PhD there. He has held posts at MIT, Cambridge and Queen Mary. His research is on superstring theory, quantum gravity and quantum field theory. His work on the non-perturbative structure of superstring theory and string dualities laid the foundations for M-theory, the leading candidate for the theory of everything. His current research includes work on the development of string field theory and on the foundations of M-theory. He was awarded the Dirac Medal in 2003 and in 2012 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
