Ben Delo

As well as a LIMS trustee, Ben Delo is an entrepreneur and philanthropist whose causes include neurodiversity and mathematical discovery.

Ben Delo

Ben Delo is a trustee of the London Institute and an entrepreneur and philanthropist. After studying maths and computer science at Oxford, he worked as a software engineer at IBM and later for JP Morgan in Hong Kong. In 2014, Delo co-founded BitMEX, a cryptocurrency derivatives platform for which he invented the “perpetual swap”: an innovation that has been hailed as “the most successful derivatives product in the history of capitalism”. In more recent years, Mr Delo’s main focus has been philanthropy. The causes he supports include neurodiversity, academic freedom and mathematical education and research. In 2025 he funded the creation of the Ben Delo Fellowship at the London Institute.
